Airplanes, Trams, and Trains! Oh my!

Traveling is a hassle. Booking flights, scurrying to the next gate, waiting for countless hours, dragging unnecessarily heavy luggage, riding plans, riding trams, riding trains...all of it adds up to one enormous headache that not even the biggest allowable dose of ibuprofen can tame. Those of you who've traveled can validate this. And yet, for all the things that can go wrong on a given trip, ours proved to be surprisingly smooth and free of problems. Outlined below are some of the highlights from our voyage from Des Moines to Vichy.

No major (or minor) event  is complete without a Beganovic family photo shoot.

Principal is proud to be based in Des Moines, and so are we. :)

Good food. Great company.
Mama Beganovic escorting her dear daughters to France. Couldn't have done it without you, Mom!  Mama kvocka vodi svoje pilice u Fransusku.
We flew with Lufthansa. Their service was hospitable, their stewardesses lovely, and their food was...well edible. Letili smo sa Lufthanzom. Bilo je ljepo.

In Lyon, France we took a tram from the Saint-Exupéry Airport to the Part-Dieu Train Station. As with the rest of the trip everything went smoothly except that we almost forgot our backbacks on the tram. It was quite an exercise sprinting back to retrieve them. Luckily the tram hadn't left yet. The conductor had waited for us and let out a dramatic "Phew" when he saw us scurrying back into the tram, our faces flushed from the run. Uf.

The rest of the trip proved less eventful. At the train station we bought our tickets for Vichy speaking a mixture of French and English (Frenglish). From there we traveled through beautiful countryside to Vichy where we were awaited by two very sweet French students, Aurélie and Lidy, who took us to our apartment. More on our apartment and the city of Vichy on the next post. Stay tuned. Do Vichija smo putovale dva sata kroz predivna sela, brda, i planine. Do slijedeceg javljanja!

Monsieur Pigeon posing for a picture at the Part-Dieu Train Station.
